No, Diplomat America does not cover pre-existing conditions. There is a pre-existing condition exclusion of 24 months prior to the start of the coverage.
The plan provides acute onset of pre-existing conditions for plan participants below age 70.
Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition(s) means a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Preexisting Condition(s) which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires urgent care. The Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition(s) must occur after the effective date of the policy. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. A Pre-existing Condition that is a chronic or congenital condition or that gradually becomes worse over time will not be considered Acute Onset.
Diplomat America does not follow a PPO network. You can go to any provider in the area.
Adventure sports are not covered under Diplomat America. However, for an additional premium, the plan offers an optional athletic sports & hazardous activity rider for injuries or illness that results from practice or play in any amateur, club, intramural, interscholastic, intercollegiate activities. These benefits come in three options: Low Option, Middle Option, and High Option. You can review more in the Brochure
The application will need the name, date of birth, visitor’s home country address, passport country, and email address to send the insurance documents. A valid credit card will be required to complete the purchase.
Once the application is submitted, an email will be sent to the email address provided on the application which will include links to download the ID card, Visa Letter, and Certificate wording.
Diplomat America has five options – A, B, C, D, E to choose from. All of the Plans have the same standard benefits (i.e. Emergency Medical Evacuation, Repatriation, Emergency Reunion, Trip Interruption, etc.). The difference is in the Medical Maximum benefit limit you can choose from. The medical maximum limit is what the policy will pay up to should you need to go to the doctor, urgent care, or hospital.
Policies can be purchased up until the day before your trip departure or desired effective date. The coverage begins from the next day or a future date you opt for on the application. It is a good practice to buy visitor medical insurance a few days before departure so that you can make sure you have all the necessary documentation before you travel and are assured that you are covered from the date you apply for.
Coverage under this Plan is not renewable. If additional coverage time is needed, a new application must be completed and the correct Premium submitted. A new Deductible, Coinsurance, and Pre-existing Condition Exclusion will apply at each succeeding or subsequent Period of Coverage.
A refund of the plan cost, less a $25 processing fee, will be considered only when a written request is received prior to the Effective Date of Individual coverage. After the Effective Date of Individual coverage, the plan cost is considered fully earned and non-refundable. Partial refunds are not available.
