Why is Patriot Group Travel Insurance Good for Visitors?

If you have more than 2 primary members traveling together, you can consider a group plan to get similar benefits at a reduced group rate.  The group policy will have the same policy maximum and deductible, but group members can have different dates of travel. A single form and a single payment make it easy for applying.

Pre-existing: The Patriot America Group plan for coverage in the US has no benefits for pre-existing conditions or acute onset of pre-existing conditions. 

On the Patriot International Group Plan acute onset of pre-existing conditions are covered as follows:

United States citizens:

Age 64 and under without a primary health plan: Maximum limit: $20,000

Age 64 and under with a primary health plan: Up to the period of coverage limit

Age 65 through age 69: Maximum limit: $2,500

Non-United States citizens:

Age 69 and under: Up to the period of coverage limit or $1,000,000 (whichever is lower)

$25,000 maximum limit for emergency medical evacuation

PPO Hospital Network: Outside the US the plan does not follow a network. You can utilize the International Provider Access for assistance in locating a health care provider.

Inside the U.S. the plan members can avail of the UnitedHealthcare network

The Patriot Group Medical Travel Insurance provides group travel options to U.S. as well as non-US citizens who may be visitors, study abroad groups, international student groups needing coverage outside their home country. The group requires only 2 primary members to form a group. The plan provides Policy Maximum options up to $1,000,000, and for those age 80 or older, the maximum is $10,000. What is the Price or Cost of Patriot Group Insurance?

The pricing is dependent on the following factors: The pricing is dependent on the following factors: Your price or premium goes up if you opt for a higher policy maximum. The higher the age or number of days, you will see that the price of the insurance will go up. The premium reduces if you opt for a higher deductible. If you add optional coverage (e.g. Adventure sports), your premium will increase.

Plan Limit: Patriot Group Travel Insurance provides a choice of Policy Maximum from $50,000 to $1,000,000 for ages up to 69 years. Seniors aged between 70 -79 years can opt for $50,000 while  80+ years have a $10,000 policy maximum for group travel insurance. Deductible options ranging from $0 to $2,500  are available for both the Patriot International as well as the Patriot America group plans

Age: The plan is available for individuals ages 14 days to 80+ years.

 Coverage Days: Plan can be purchased from 5 days up to 12 month period and can be extended up to a total of 24 consecutive months

Optional Coverage Benefits Riders: Optional riders include the Adventure Sports Rider (Available to insured travelers up to the age of 65) and the Chaperone/Faculty Leader Replacement Rider (10% increase of base premium)

FAQ: How does Patriot Group Plan work?

Patriot Group Plan is designed for U.S. citizens as well as non-US citizens for group travel outside your home country.

In order to be eligible and qualified for coverage under this insurance, a person must meet all of the following requirements:
(1) complete and sign an Application as the Insured Person (or be listed thereon by proxy as an applicant and proposed Insured
Person), and/or as the Insured Person’s Spouse and/or Child
(2) pay the required premium on or before the Effective Date of Coverage
(3) receive written acceptance of his/her application, renewal, or extension from the Company
(4) be an individual at least fourteen (14) days old
(5) on the Effective Date and on subsequent renewal dates, must have legally departed the Country of Residence and legally
entered the Destination Country
(6) not be Pregnant, Hospitalized or Disabled on the Initial Effective Date
(7) not be HIV + on the Initial Effective Date
(8) not have established a permanent residency in the Destination Country

The Patriot America Group plan for coverage in the US has no benefits for pre-existing conditions or acute onset of pre-existing conditions.

A sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a pre-existing condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning (either in the form of physician recommendations or symptoms), is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires urgent medical care. The onset of a pre-existing condition must happen after the effective date to be covered, and the patient must be below 70 years old. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. 

A pre-existing condition which is a chronic or congenital condition or that gradually becomes worse over time and requires medical care, drugs or treatments existing or necessary prior to the effective date are not considered to be an acute onset.

Only “acute onset of pre-existing conditions” is covered for people under 70 years old up to the specified limit for an acute onset of a pre-existing condition.

In the US, the Patriot Group America travel plan has access to thousands of medical providers all across the United States. Though the plan does not restrict you from going to out-of-network providers, in-network providers have negotiated rates and are cheaper than providers out of the Patriot Group America insurance network. In the US, you can search for in-network medical providers such as doctors, hospitals, and urgent care offices at the United HealthCare PPO Network website.

Outside the US the plan does not follow a network. You can utilize the International Provider Access for assistance in locating a health care provider.

Adventure Sports Rider add-on coverage is available for an additional premium for insured travelers up to the age of 65. Activities like abseiling, BMX, bobsledding, bungee jumping, canyoning, caving, hot air ballooning, jungle zip-lining, parachuting, paragliding, parascending, rappelling, skydiving; spelunking, whitewater kayaking, wildlife safaris, and windsurfing are covered to the lifetime maximum amounts listed below as long as they are engaged solely for leisure, recreation, or entertainment purposes. Age 0-49 years: $50,000 certificate period
Age 50-59 years: $30,000 certificate period
Age 60-64 years: $15,000 certificate period

The application will need the name, date of birth, visitor’s address, passport country, and email address to send the insurance documents.  If you do have the passport number, you can enter it. A valid credit card will be required to complete the purchase.

Once the application is submitted, an email will be sent to the email address provided on the application which will include links to download the ID card, Visa Letter, and Certificate wording.

Yes, you can complete Online Renewal as long as your initial purchase was a minimum of 5 days, you can renew the policy before the end date. In addition, the plan can be extended before the end date of the policy and can be renewed for up to 24 months of continuous coverage.

 

Before the effective date of the policy:  Full cancellation and refund will only be considered if the written request is received prior to the effective date of the coverage.

After the effective date of the policy:  If the written request is received after the Effective Date of coverage, the following conditions apply if the Insured Person wishes to cancel the insurance and a written partial refund request has been made:

  1. a) If any claims have been filed with the Company, the Premium is fully earned and is non-refundable.
  2. b) If no claims have been filed with the Company, then
    (i) a cancellation fee of US $50 will be charged; and
    (ii) only full month premiums will be considered as refundable

It is a good practice to keep a copy of the entire claims documents with you before you submit a claim for processing

  1. Download and complete the Claims Form
  2. Attach copies of all the pages of the passport
  3. Attach any itemized bills or receipts if money was paid out of pocket for services
  4. Submit the above within the stipulated time of 90 days after seeing the provider
