What is the Price or Cost of Diplomat Long Term Insurance? 

The pricing is dependent on the following factors: The higher the plan limit, age, or coverage days, the higher will be the premium. If you add any optional coverage the premium will increase. Your premium reduces if you opt for a higher deductible.  

Plan Limit: There are various options to choose from. Plan offers plan limits of $500,000, $1,000,000 for ages up to 69 years. The plan offers $100,000 to members between ages 70-79 years and $20,000 for above 80 years.

Age: The plan is available from age 14 days to above 80 years.

Coverage Days: The minimum period of coverage that can be purchased under this plan is 3 months and the maximum period of coverage is 12 months. Coverage is renewable for up to 12 months at a time, to a maximum of 36 consecutive months. Coverage is based on a per month rate.

Optional Coverage Benefits Riders: Optional riders include the following: 

Athletic Sports & Hazardous Activity Coverage: Provides coverage if Your Injury or Illness results from certain enumerated Athletic Sports & Hazardous Activities. 

Incidental Trips to Your Home Country: This benefit covers you for incidental trips to your Home Country.  

Follow Me Home Coverage: This plan shall pay for Covered Expenses incurred in your Home Country up to $5,000 for conditions first diagnosed outside Your Home Country.  

Additional AD&DThe Principal Sum is increased from $25,000 to the selected amount not to exceed $1,000,000 of coverage. 

War Risk Coverage: War Risk Coverage is divided into three categories: 

War Risk Area 1 (High War Risk – coverage is mandatory – covers your travels to countries in War Risk Areas 1, 2, and 3) 

War Risk Area 2 (Medium War Risk – coverage is highly recommended – covers your travels to countries in War Risk Areas 2 and 3)

FAQ: How does Diplomat Long Term Insurance Plan work?

Diplomat Long Term (LT) provides Accident and Sickness medical coverage, Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits, and Travel Assistance to Non-U.S. residents while visiting the United States or for those traveling internationally outside their home country. Coverage is available for 2 adults, any unmarried dependent children ages 14 days until their 18th birthday, or children traveling alone.

Please Note:

  • Coverage is NOT available for travel in Iran.
  • Coverage is NOT available for citizens of Australia or Iran or residents of New York, Maryland, and South Dakota.

 

This policy does not cover pre-existing conditions. However, unexpected recurrence of a pre-existing condition is covered for US citizens only. The maximum limit varies as per the participant’s age. 

If the member is a non-US citizen under the age of 70, traveling ins the US, the member is covered for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition(s). This benefit does not apply to members age 70 or older.

Acute Onset of Pre-existing conditions shall mean a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition(s) which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires urgent care.  The Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition(s) must occur after the effective date of the policy. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. A pre-existing condition that is a chronic or congenital condition or that gradually becomes worse over time will not be considered Acute Onset. This benefit does not include coverage for known, scheduled, required, or expected medical care, drugs, or Treatments existent or necessary prior to the Effective Date of coverage.

This policy doesn’t stipulate specific providers or facilities. You can go to any provider, urgent care or emergency room (life threatening). Please provide a copy of your insurance card (schedule of insurance) at the time of service. 

Adventure sports are not covered under the Diplomat LT Plan. However, Athletic Sports & Hazardous Activity Rider can be purchased at an additional cost. This provides coverage if Your Injury or Illness results from enumerated Athletic Sports & Hazardous Activities. 

The application will need the name, date of birth, visitor’s address, passport country, and email address to send the insurance documents.  If you do have the passport number, you can enter it. A valid credit card will be required to complete the purchase. 

Once the application is submitted, an email will be sent to the email address provided on the application which will include links to download the ID card, Visa Letter, and Certificate wording. 

The policy can be purchased up until the day before your trip departure or a future desired effective date.

Members can buy the plan for a minimum of 3 months and can extend coverage for an additional term of up to  364 days of coverage. A participant is eligible to renew 36 consecutive months from the date of the initial enrolment.

Less a $25 processing fee, will be considered only when written request is received by Global Underwriters prior to the Effective Date of Individual coverage. After the Effective Date of Individual coverage, premium is considered fully earned and non-refundable. Partial refunds are not available. 

Submitting a claim if treated outside the United States: 

  • Complete a Claim Form with your most current mailing address in case the Claims Department needs to contact you in writing for additional information. 
  • Attach and send in all original receipts for proof of payment, the foreign medical invoice, and medical information that was provided to you from the foreign provider. 
  • Be sure to keep copies of all your receipts for your records. 
  • The second page of the Accident/Sickness claim form also outlines how to file a claim in detail. 

Submitting a claim if treated inside the United States: 

  • Present your insurance information to the provider at the time of service, therefore the provider is able to bill Global Claims Administration directly. 
  • Download and submit a claim form with your most current mailing address in case Global Claims Administration LLC needs to contact you in writing for additional information. 
  • If you have paid for services yourself, please attach copies of all receipts of proof of payment and a complete itemized bill to the completed claim form. 
  • Please be sure to retain copies of all your receipts for your records. 
  • The second page of the Accident/Sickness claim form also outlines how to file a claim in detail.
